Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant
Forces Families
Go North West pledges to offer an interview to any applicant with a Forces Families background who fits the basic criteria of the role (e.g. for a driver, having a car licence for a year, no endorsements, and no unspent convictions). In addition to that, Go North West will proactively work with organisations assisting service personnel and family members to gain employment, and will advertise in places where service personnel and family members are likely to see those adverts.
Reserves Personnel
Go North West appreciates that some of our colleagues will still be serving reservists. This requires training time and may require deployment. We support those who are in the Reserves and pledge that we will pay an additional week of paid holiday each year to those required to attend military training (this means they will only have to use one week of their normal holiday allowance).
Should a colleague be deployed, they will remain an employee of Go North West and maintain all terms and conditions of employment, but will be on “unpaid leave”. Each colleague in this situation must spend some time with their line manager prior to deployment and upon their return to ensure they are fully integrated back into our workforce and given any additional support they may need. This is an opportunity to create a supported plan.
About us
Go North West was created on 2nd June 2019, when The Go-Ahead Group took over operations at the historic Queens Road bus depot in the heart of Manchester. Since then, we've worked hard to embed ourselves firmly within the communities we serve. We run an extensive network of routes across Greater Manchester and Salford, including the 135, one of Manchester's busiest bus routes.
Go North West is part of the Go-Ahead Group plc, one of five major groups involved in running buses in the UK. The Go-Ahead philosophy is for each subsidiary company to run as an autonomous business, in tune with the local market. In Manchester, this will enable us to focus on the needs of commuters and leisure travelers alike and provide a service that really focuses on improving customer experience.
