Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant 

-- GTR has committed to being an Armed Forces-friendly organisation and promoting that pledge to our colleagues, customers, suppliers, contractors and the wider public. In addition, we will:  

  • Support the employment of Service spouses and partners. Specifically, we have pledged to;
  • Provide flexibility in granting leave for Service spouses and partners before, during and after a partner’s deployment; 
  • Support the employment of veterans by recognising military skills and qualifications in our recruitment and selection process;  
  • Work with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) to support the employment of Service leavers; 
  • Support colleagues who are members of the Reserve Forces;  
  • Grant additional 2 weeks unpaid leave for annual Reserve Forces training; 
  • Support any mobilisations and deployment;  
  • Support colleagues who are volunteer leaders in military cadet organisations; 
  • Grant one week additional leave to attend annual training camps/courses; 
  • supporting local military cadet units;  
  • Recognise the benefits of employing cadets/ex-cadets within the workforce; 
  • Use appropriate channels to actively encourage colleagues to become Reservists, and 
  • Offer discounted rail travel to members of the Armed Forces community.
