Great Western Railway (GWR)

Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

We have applied to become accredited with Silver Defence Employer Silver Award status to show our commitment to advocate support to the Defence and the Armed Forces community. We have several colleagues in GWR who are ex forces personnel, reservists, and family members of military personnel and we recognise the valuable contribution that military personnel make to the UK Armed Forces, their communities, and the civilian workplace.

About us

Brunel built the Great Western Railway 150 years ago. And trains are just as important today. Just as Brunel did, we want to set new standards and transform the way our customers think about rail travel. We’re bringing back his ideals to deliver a 21st century railway we can all be proud of. One of Britain's largest train companies, we do everything we can to provide smooth rail journeys for 100 million customers every year. Our services run across the south from Devon and Cornwall to Bristol, South Wales and London. At GWR we value diversity. We have a strategy that sets out our approach to ensure we broaden our appeal to both our customers and colleagues. Our vision for inclusion and diversity is:

We are progressive. We are one family. We are inclusive. First time, every time. Making GWR an inclusive place to work is essential for us to deliver a railway that is inclusive for our customers. Valuing our differences such as age, gender, LGBTQ+, ethnicity, religion, and disability, means that our colleagues have a voice and are supported to be their authentic selves at work; where they can share experiences and diversity of thought.
