Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

We launched our ‘What Matters To Veterans’ Report in 2021 which highlighted the issues ex armed forces personnel face during transition. We have formed strong working relationships with our veteran’s community including military charities and will continue to work collaboratively with them. We chair a bi-monthly Veterans Working Group meeting which looks at the issues veterans face in their communities. We are working alongside therapy and support charities such as iCARP who look at complex PTSD and Mental Health needs to the military community and allow them to attend their fishing lakes and trips away. We regularly link our community to information and signposting to support all military personnel and we always welcome recruitment opportunities for ex armed forces communities to apply for jobs with us at Healthwatch Essex.

About us

Healthwatch in a national organisation with 152 local Healthwatch organisations working underneath it. Formed out the of the Health and Social care act 2012 the local Healthwatch have statutory powers, these were further strengthened in the 2022 Health and Social Act update. These include the ability to ‘Enter and View’ health and care facilities and provide feedback to the service providers.

Healthwatch Essex has four departments: Engagement, Research, Communications and Information & Guidance. Across these teams we gather lived experience and user voice oy create an evidence based on health and social care to influence change.

Being a statutory body we have the power to make sure NHS leaders and other decision makers listen to feedback and improve standards of care.
