Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

Lancashire Constabulary is a signatory to the Armed Forces Covenant which demonstrates our commitment to the Armed Forces Community.  We pledge to ensure that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly.  We are an Armed Forces Friendly employer and have a staff network for members of the Armed Forces Community to offer advice and support where needed.  Anyone who is part of the Armed Forces Community is encouraged to join Lancashire Constabulary as either an officer or in a support staff role.  Reservists are supported with a policy that offers up to 15 days additional leave to allow them to attend their annual training commitments.

We already have many highly valued members of the Armed Forces Community working for Lancashire Constabulary and we recognise the benefits of the skills, training, and experience that they bring to their work.

About us

Founded in 1839, Lancashire Constabulary covers an area of 1,184 square miles. The county has a population of 1.51 million with a rich diversity of communities, spread over a large geographical area all with specific policing needs. It includes coastal towns, large towns, city centres and rural communities too.

The Constabulary is split into three divisions, West, South and East which are run by a Chief Superintendent, known as a Divisional Commander. Our Headquarters is based in Hutton, Preston with our Dogs and Mounted section nearby.

To ensure we fulfil our commitment to policing Lancashire, the workforce is made up of over 3,000 Police Officers and 2,500 Police Staff – of which 290 are PCSOs and 460 Special Constabulary Officers, Police Cadets and Community Volunteers.
