Lothian Buses

Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

Lothian’s commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant strengthens Lothian’s bond with the Armed Forces community. We are proud that a number of our colleagues are ex-military and we’re delighted that they have chosen Lothian as a workplace to develop their talents and forge a career in their post-forces lives.

We recognise the value that Serving Personnel, as well as veterans and military families contribute to our business and our country, having first hand experience of veterans and military families’ dedicated service to Lothian’s commitment to providing for all of our customers.

Lothian is a Reserve friendly employer and we are committing to supporting members of staff who serve within the Royal Naval Reserves, Royal Marine Reserves, Army Reserves and Royal Auxiliary Air Force, allowing them to attend their annual training camps with full paid leave.

We are proud to support military personal, regular and reserves, veterans and military families and continue to do so via our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant.

About us

Lothian is the UK’s largest municipal bus company and proudly owned by the City of Edinburgh, East Lothian, Midlothian and West Lothian councils. We have been based in Edinburgh for over 100 years and are now one of the region’s largest employers with over 2,500 staff.  Many of our colleagues are from Edinburgh and the Lothians or have made the region their home and now serve those communities they live in.

We are an award-winning transport operator, with over 70 services with over 700 buses running day and night, 365 days a year. Our easy-access fleet is among the youngest and environmentally friendly in the UK. In 2021 we were proud to introduce Scotland’s first four fully electric double decker buses to our fleet, which now operate in our fleet daily across our network.

We are proud to work in partnership with other transport providers across Scotland providing vital links and connections for onward travel.
