MacRobert Trust

Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

The MacRobert Trust has, since Lady MacRobert founded it in memory of her sons, the last two of which died whilst serving in the RAF during WW2, the support of the Armed Forces family, in all its guises, at its heart. We are acutely aware of the pressures on families of those serving and not only support a plethora of military charities, including those focused on families, but also offer significantly discounted stays at our 4 Star Country House hotel situated at the centre of the MacRobert estate in Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire to all members of the Armed Forces, including their immediate families.

We are not only a signatory of the Covenant but also a Gold Employer Recognition Scheme award holder.

About us

The MacRobert Trust is a charity/grant-maker based in Tarland, Aberdeenshire where it makes all its money from its own resources – from its investment portfolio on the stock exchange to its 7200 acre Aberdeenshire estate. The Estate employs around 50 people and has 9 tenanted farms, 2,000 acres of forestry, 60 residential properties, a 51 bed care home and its own 4 Star, 3 Rosette, Country House Hotel. The hotel is surrounded by a 16 acre RHS partner garden and hosts a number of apprentice/trainee schemes. All the profit from the work/businesses undertaken on the estate is combined with that from the portfolio and is all granted to charitable causes covered by three themes – including its primary theme concerning the Armed Forces; in total that charitable giving amounts to around £1 Million every year. The RNRMC, RAFBF and Poppy Scotland are Trustee nominating bodies and receive special attention in the grant-making process. Over the last 20 years, the Trust has granted just under £10Million to military charities/causes.
