Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

  • We promote we are an Armed Forces-friendly organisation, to our staff, partners, suppliers, contractors and wider public.
  • We support the employment of veterans and reservists, recognising military skills and qualifications in our recruitment and selection process; working with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) to support the employment of Service leavers.
  • We grant additional leave for employees who are Reservists enabling them to undertake training or to support mobilisations.
  • We support our employees who are volunteer leaders in military cadet organisations, enabling them to attend annual training camps and courses.
  • We continue to support National Events such as Armed Forces Day, Reserves Day, the Poppy Appeal Day and Remembrance activities.
  • We work closely with our Local Authorities supporting their endeavours to promote broader awareness of and access to essential services and charities for armed forces veterans, reservists and their families.
  • We have an armed forces network that engages with regional partners where we learn and evolve our internal policies and practices towards our sustained support of veterans, reservists and their families.

About us

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service is a dynamic metropolitan Fire & Rescue Service. In 2021 Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) rated Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service as outstanding at preventing fires, responding to major incidents and making the best use of resources. We are also the lead authority role for National Resilience on behalf of the Home Office.
