Ministry Of Defence Police

Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

Ministry of Defence Police (MDP) are committed to supporting the Armed Forces community and recognise the value of military families, serving personnel, reservists, veterans, and to our organisation.

We work closely with the CTP, attending all face-to-face events and host some online events to engage with the Armed forces community and talk about the opportunities MDP can offer to those serving, have served and to the military families as well.

We recognise the benefits of the skills and training that those from the Armed forces community can bring to their work. MDP are working towards achieving silver accreditation and already have many highly valued members of the Armed Forces Community working for Ministry of Defence Police and we are keen for this to keep growing.

About us

The Ministry of Defence Police more commonly known as the MOD Police or the MDP is a national civilian police force serving the MOD, other UK Government departments and UK NATO partners based in the UK a specialist police force with most of our officers deployed as Authorised Firearms Officers (AFOs), and significant numbers delivering marine policing and dog handling roles All new recruits are trained to be AFOs from the beginning of their career with the MDP: trained to the national standards set by the College of Policing. We provide an armed policing service at locations across the UK, protecting Defence and sites of national importance. Whilst we don’t offer a policing role where “blues and twos” scenarios are a daily occurrence, what we do offer is a specialist policing role.
