Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

Polaris recognises the value serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families bring to our business.

We will seek to uphold the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant by:

  • Promoting the fact that we are an armed forces-friendly organisation
  • Endeavouring to offer a degree of flexibility in granting leave for Service spouses and partners before, during and after a partner’s deployment
  • Seeking to support our employees who choose to be members of the Reserve forces, including by accommodating their training and deployment where possible
  • Committing to fair interviews to the spouses/partners of service personnel if they meet the selection criteria laid out in a job advert
  • Support the employment of service spouses and partners by directing recruitment campaigns to the Armed Forces community, such as advertising through service-friendly recruitment agencies and service charities for relevant roles.
  • As we support military communities globally, we commit to attempt to find alternative employment within the business in another location, if current employees need to move to accompany their partner.

About us

We are Polaris, one of the UK’s largest leading communities of children’s service providers.

Within the community, we have independent fostering and adoption agencies who have been passionately improving the lives of young people for over 30 years, as well as leaving care services, residential children’s care providers, education provisions and bespoke children’s services contracts. Our nurturing community works collectively to support the very best outcomes for each and every child in our care. We’re ambitious for our children and young people, families and staff, and believe in their futures.

Since 2014 we have provided social work services to the Ministry of Defence in Germany and in 2019 we expanded our overseas work with the British military and associated civilian personnel and their families to across Europe, Canada, Kenya, Belize, the United States of America and Saudi Arabia. From July 2020 we expanded our services to include the British Forces Social Work Service in Cyprus and the South Atlantic Islands.
