Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

As a Council, we recognise and value the unique contribution and sacrifice of the Armed Forces community and are committed to providing and encouraging support to the Armed Forces community.  Rotherham’s Armed Forces Covenant signed by the Council, businesses, charities and key organisations pledges to ensure the Armed Forces community is treated fairly and faces no disadvantage when accessing public and commercial services.

Those who have served have a unique and often difficult role.  Most will make a successful transition into civilian life after service, but for those who do not, there is a wide range of support available. 

The Rotherham Armed Forces Community Covenant Group consists of the Council and represented organisations and charities who have signed the Covenant and Armed Forces community representatives.  The Group assists with joining up the services, organisations and resources available to the community and ensures those bodies responsible for providing local services in the areas of healthcare, education and housing are meeting its legal obligation in line with the Armed Forces Covenant Duty.

At RMBC, we provide local government services to residents, businesses and services.

With work locations across the borough, we are responsible for providing a range of services including social care, planning, housing, revenue and benefits support, licensing, business regulation and enforcement, electoral registration, refuse and recycling, leisure, culture, parks and green spaces, economic growth, highways maintenance, education and skills, community safety and public health.

Operating as one council, our aim is to ensure: Every child is able to fulfil their potential, People are safe, health and live well, every neighbourhood is thriving, a cleaner, greener local environment and that we are expanding economic opportunity.
