University of Bolton

Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

The University of Bolton recognises the importance of the contribution that Her Majesty’s Armed Forces (reservists and regular) make to safeguarding the United Kingdom and our interests overseas. We at Bolton understand and are grateful of the commitment and sacrifice our armed forces and their families make. For these reasons we are proud to support the entire armed forces community.

As an employer, we work to attract and retain former regular and reservists within the Bolton family. We encourage reserve activity and support all those in the armed forces community. As a higher education establishment we welcome applicants on our undergraduate and post graduate degree programmes from members of the armed forces community.

We are very proud of the lasting commitment we have made with respect to the Armed Forces Covenant and encourage all those in the armed forces community to consider the University as a destination of choice for their future employment and/or further study.

About us

Built on our proud heritage (the University traces its educational roots all the way back to 1824), the University has an ambitious strategy and is arguably the UK’s first Teaching Intensive, Research Informed university. Such intensive teaching is being underpinned and informed by relevant and high-quality research. Our conscious strategy of ‘willful institution building’ has seen success in in the Guardian top university rankings in the National Student Survey demonstrating the effectiveness and energy of our approach.

As a smaller University in Greater Manchester, we have a family and collegiate feel, with a culture of agility and willingness to create and take advantage of new approaches and opportunities for the benefit of our students.

Our mission is simple we strive to be a distinctive teaching intensive, research informed university known for the quality of our staff, our facilities and our links to employment sectors. Bolton now has a global student body of over 12,000 students - employing over 800 people and with a turnover of £83m. As one of the UKs most diverse higher education institutions it will come as no surprise that equality, diversity, and inclusion are very much at the heart of everything we do. In fact many of our team have joined us from outside the higher education sector itself.

We invite you to join us and be part of our future success.
