Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

USW have a long standing commitment to the wider AF community in Wales and engage with: Regular and Reserve forces; those who have been wounded, injured or sick; those who are within the criminal justice system; their families; and spouses.

About us

University of South Wales were among the first Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the UK to sign the AF Covenant in 2013 and was the first HEI in the UK to appoint an Armed Forces Champion (AFC, presently filled by Dr Ross Hall, ex-Army). USW have actively encouraged the signing of the AF Covenant to all other HEIs in Wales via the Military Education Committee for Wales (MEC, Chaired by Dr. Ross Hall). USW were awarded the ERS Silver award in 2014 and ERS Gold in August 2018, one of only three HEIs in the UK to be awarded the ERS Gold award. USW have also partnered with 160 Inf and HQ Bde in its efforts to engage with HEIs in Wales in an attempt to add value to the signing of the AF Covenant. USW engage with and support Regular ad Reserve forces, ex-AF veterans, their families and the wider AF community, providing education and employment opportunities.
