Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant
As a District Council we have signed up, support and pledge to the Armed Forces Covenant, we acknowledge and understand that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, should be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy and society they serve with their lives.
The Armed Forces Covenant is supported at a local level by a partnership agreement between statutory, military and voluntary sector agencies who work together to honour and implement the national Armed Forces Covenant.
About us
Uttlesford - a hidden gem. Many people do not know where to find us - the district is in North West Essex within easy reach of both Cambridge and London - and yet the area is regularly rated as one of the best places to live and work in the country. The area is rich in history with 3,751 listed buildings and 34 conservation areas. Uttlesford is well served by major road, rail and air links. The M11 runs through the district and Stansted Airport is located within its boundaries. To the south is the A120 and a number of settlements are connected served by the Cambridge to London railway line. However, due to its rural nature there are accessibility issues for some without private transport, especially in outlying villages.
