Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

Voluntary Action Swindon recognises the value military families bring to our business. We will seek to uphold the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant, which include:

  • promoting the fact that we are an Armed Forces-friendly organisation;
  • encouraging the Armed Forces community to sign up to VAS id, our weekly ebulletin, that advertises volunteering and employment opportunities in the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector to support the employment of Service spouses and partners;
  • endeavouring to offer a degree of flexibility in granting leave for Service spouses and partners before, during and after a partner’s deployment;
  • encouraging other businesses and organisations, to sign up to the Covenant.

About us

Voluntary Action Swindon are the local Council for the Voluntary Sector (CVS), an infrastructure organisation that supports the local VCSE with funding and governance advice, collaboration and a wide variety of services, including room hire, training and DBS checks. We support the sector on collaboration to deliver projects and get the best outcomes for the residents of Swindon.

We are also the voice of the sector on several boards including the Integrated Care Board. VAS run several networks and projects within Swindon’s VCSE, including Volunteering Swindon, Veterans support, Sanford House community hub, Swindon Equality Coalition and Swindon Youth Voice project.
