Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

Woodland Recovery Centres CIC is committed to working with and supporting veterans and their families. During 2019 we signed the Armed Forces Covenant and received our bronze employer recognition scheme award and in 2020 we were delighted to be awarded the silver.

About us

The project is based at Pen-y-Graig Wood near Monmouth, an eight-acre broad-leaf site containing studio and workshop facilities. It began in January 2020, for the public benefit to relieve the need, suffering and distress and in particular to improve the health of veterans and serving members of the armed forces and emergency services staff and their families with post-traumatic symptoms and acute mental health.

Participants receive a bespoke package of support and activities to address their individual mental need, whether that be stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD, or any other acute mental condition. Alongside conventional treatments, participants have the opportunity to engage in a wide range of outdoor, artistic, and cultural activities including woodland management, coppicing, charcoal making, dry stone walling, craft production, creative writing, painting, story-telling and mindfulness.
