Description

Our Commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

YMCA Cornwall has committed to honour the Armed Forces Covenant and support the Armed Forces Community.  We recognise the value Serving Personnel, both Regular and Reservists, Veterans and military families contribute to our country and we wish to support the employment of veterans and forces family members, recognising military skills and qualifications in our recruitment and selection process and working with the Career Transition Partnership.

We also understand the challenges that military families face balancing their working and family lives, including periods of long deployments and will support the employment of Service spouses and partners by offer a degree of flexibility in granting leave for Service spouses and partners before, during and after a partner's deployment.

About us

YMCA Cornwall provides supported accommodation for young people aged 16 – 25 who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless in Penzance and the surrounding community. We provide a safe, stable environment for residents along with guidance from a team of dedicated support workers. These elements provide a secure foundation from which young people can move towards independent living, remain in education and find employment. As an autonomous charity we rely on donations and grants to fund much of our work.

Our Penzance site has a coffee shop and a range of rooms that can be hired for meetings, family events and fitness activities; profits from our social enterprise are reinvested in YMCA Cornwall to help young people.

YMCA Cornwall is a Christian charity committed to helping young people, particularly at times of need, regardless of faith. YMCA is the largest and the oldest group of independent charities working with young people in the world.
