As a Business Development Manager for our CDT team, you will play a key role in driving efforts to identify, develop and attract new businesses to GM, securing investment and delivering job creation.  Together with the Head of the Sector, you will work closely with local ecosystem partners to develop the Manchester proposition, ensuring it accurately reflects the region’s unique strengths afforded by its devolved status and alignment with current industry trends.

Responsibilities:

  • Achievement of an annual target of inward investment successes and associated job creation and safeguarding, for both new direct investment and expansion within the existing investor base, with a specific focus on foreign direct investment.
  • To develop strategic engagement campaigns to promote GM’s Tech, Cyber, and Creative propositions with both a geographical and sector focus.
  • Lead on the execution of targeting & engagement campaign activity.
  • Build relationships and identify investment opportunities with national and international companies by targeting key decision-makers and using a consultative sale approach.
  • Project manage individual investment enquiries, providing a bespoke service that meets all client needs.
  • Account manage a pre-determined number of GM-based businesses on behalf of the local authorities of GM at a strategic decision-making level.
  • Create partnerships with external stakeholders, including the national agency DBT, to boost our visibility, find new leads, and increase the value and size of our pipeline.
  • Through a combination of client engagement, research, and horizon scanning, identify new and emerging trends and opportunities both within and across all sectors.

At MIDAS, we are seeking an experienced business professional with an entrepreneurial flair, who is:

  • Adept at building strategic relationships and with a hands-on approach to generating new business opportunities.
  • Experienced in B2B consultative sales within a highly commercial environment, and can evidence network development, preferably within the Digital, Tech and Creative sectors.
  • The ability to identify and develop long-term partnerships.
  • A good understanding of the full sales cycle, from research and planning to marketing and lead generation; through to project management; closing the deal and aftercare.
  • experienced and skilled negotiator, able to influence at the most senior level.
  • Proven experience in project management.
  • Knowledge of the CDT sectors, and ideally experience of international markets, particularly the US, Europe, India, China & Japan, ideally with an established network.

You may have experience in the following: Business Development Manager, Sales Manager, New Business Development, Account Management, Partnership Manager, Client Relationship, Senior Sales Executive, Business Development, Head of Sales, Account Manager, Senior Account Manager, etc.

National/International travel as required, up to 3-4 weeks per annum.

In return, we offer a competitive salary, hybrid working, and the chance to be part of an organisation where you can really make a difference.
