Salary: Band 4 (£25,147 - £27,596)

This is a permanent position and will be based at Lawton House, Bellringer Road, Trentham, Stoke on Trent ST4 8HH.

We are looking to recruit a Child Health Data Quality & Failsafe Team Leader who is motivated, flexible, organised, and enthusiastic to join our Child Health Information Service (CHIS) Team

Working as a member of the Data Quality & Failsafe team in the Child Health Information Service (CHIS) Team, you will be responsible, as part of the CHIS team, for supervising, organising, and monitoring the day-to-day functioning of the department and of the Data Quality & Failsafe Administrators. You will be processing and validating the data quality for a wide range of highly confidential activities to support the department, including running CHIS system reports for Health Professionals, thus ensuring all aspects of the Healthy Child Programme are met.

 

Main duties of the job

 

The role will require a Data Quality & Failsafe Team Leader who will supervise, create, review and amend computerised records for children who reside or are the responsibility of childhood services within the West Midlands CHIS-Northern Hub (Staffordshire, Stoke on Trent, Wolverhampton, Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin).  This is achieved by receiving information from Antenatal Services, previous Child Health Departments, GP Practices, Health Visiting, School Nurses Services etc. Data Quality checking and recording information of immunisations, surveillance, neonatal screening results and NHS Number on to the Child Health Information System.

The successful candidate will have a positive, can-do attitude to work and will strive to be a highly effective member of the CHIS team. The role consists of quality checking, processing, and updating health records for children to ensure these are correct and up to date, and it would be suited to someone who enjoys repetitive data review and entry and can carry out these tasks with a high degree of accuracy. They will need to be extremely computer literate in Word, with extensive use of Excel, and electronic mail displaying a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in data input.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To Supervise the work and daily performance of CHIS Data Quality & Failsafe Administrators is managed ensuring that standard operating processes are followed to ensure acceptable working practices and a customer focused service.
  • Monitor workload on an ongoing basis, flexing duties of staff in order to respond to demands within the service and to fulfil KPI responsibilities.
  • Ensure that supervised staff are trained to a competent level in all aspects of the systems required to fulfil their duties, for example, the Child Health Information System and support them to undertake mandatory training on time.
  • Deputise for CHIS Senior Team Leader – Data Quality & Failsafe in times of absence to include first line manager duties e.g., sickness return to work interviews.
  • To complete data quality and failsafe tasks, review, quality check and input missing information on to electronic record systems following Trust guidelines.
  • Produce and disseminate data quality reports to clinical staff from our bespoke Child Health Information System to agreed departmental standards.
  • To make, receive and deal with telephone queries in a professional manner, as agreed by the service, liaising with colleagues, GP’s, and other agencies verbally, virtually and by email.
  • To liaise with the clinical teams to support the delivery of services across West Midlands CHIS-Northern Hub.
  • To communicate information to and receive information from managers, colleagues, and others, whilst being aware of the need to maintain confidentiality.
  • To adopt a constantly flexible team working approach to ensure that all individual and team objectives are completed efficiently and within given timescales.
