Environmental Development Officer

Permanent, 37 hour per week

Salary NS11 £36,648 - £38,223 per annum

Pay Award Pending

Would you like to assist the Council’s Environmental Services Business Unit in shaping it’s future goals?

The Environmental Development Officer is an exciting new role and brings together three areas of focus:

  • Motion for the Ocean and Green Agenda
  • Environmental Education
  • Continuous Improvement

You will work with colleagues to deliver the Council’s Green Agenda and objectives of the authority’s Community Plan along with organising education and events which marry both the organisation’s objectives and satisfy school requirements in line with the National Curriculum.

In addition, you will develop, implement and project manage new initiatives analysing data to develop target campaigns and interventions aimed at behaviour change, for example, leading days of action on specific campaigns such as fly tipping.

You will have experience of green spaces and waste management in a large or complexed organisation along with experience of successfully developing services to achieve and maintain excellent levels and standards or performance.

A-Level or equivalent education or commensurate experience, ideally in an environmental field, is essential along with demonstrating continuing self-development and evidence of keeping up to date and familiar with developments and innovation in the sector and wider organisational environments.

We’re an ambitious, forward-thinking Council with strong values and a culture of doing our absolute best to serve our customers.  We are proud of our organisational culture and receive positive feedback from our employees. We have a programme of internal activity to ensure that the voices of our employees are always heard and that they are kept informed on all Council activity and events.

From roadshows to an annual award ceremony, from reviewing working arrangements to our Hug in a Mug initiative, it is incredibly important our employees are shown how valued they are and that they remain the beating heart of our workplace.

We offer enrolment in the career average local government pension scheme, a generous annual leave entitlement that increases with service, a whole host of family-friendly benefits, 1 days’ paid volunteering leave, lifestyle benefits platform and £10 a month gym membership at one of our four gyms in the district.

You will be working with a professional, committed and experienced team who are passionate about supporting us to deliver the objectives as outlined in our Community Plan.
