Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from the nation that those who serve, or have served, and their families, are treated fairly. Newark and Sherwood District Council delivers this promise at a local level by encouraging awareness, understanding and integration between the Armed Forces community and their local community – including through employment opportunities at the Council.

We are holders of the Gold award within the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme. There are many benefits to working for Newark and Sherwood District Council: we are committed to ensuring that we treat everyone who lives, works and visits our district with dignity and respect. We want to attract as wide a pool of talented candidates as possible promoting equality of opportunity in employment. We will offer you flexibility in the way you work where we can including agile working (home, mobile, hot desking). Other benefits include discounted fitness membership, occupational health provision, counselling, coaching and alternative therapy services and other health and well being benefits. Our Reservist Policy provides a clear framework in which to operate when dealing with requests for mobilisation of Reservist employees.
