Job Description

Role Title: Product Manager
Location: Glasgow / Radbroke

What will you be doing 
Working within the Product Office, this role holder will be responsible for defining, driving and communicating all features of a client-ready product including product financials and commercial management, roadmaps, customer and colleague requirements, demand and capacity management as well as helping to define the vision and strategy of the product in line with client demands.

In the role of Product Manager, the role holder will also be responsible for ensuring the voice of our customers is reflected in our Products; where we actively seek to achieve sustainable outcomes, equitable decision-making processes, and deepen relationships and trust in helping us to build products that support their ambitions. 

The Product Manager is ultimately accountable for the delivery and operational performance of the product, in addition to playing a strategic and outwardly focused role. This is an exciting opportunity to influence and drive the strategic technologies in the Bank. 

Key Accountabilities
•    Product Knowledge:  User and customer knowledge (acknowledge expert in target users / customers?); Data knowledge (skilled in various data tools and considered to be an expert on how product is used by users); Industry and Domain knowledge (competitive landscape and industry trends; Business and Company knowledge (various dimensions of Barclay's business) as relates to stakeholder concerns. 

•    Process Skills and Techniques: Product Discovery Techniques (identifying product risks early and collaboratively); Product Optimisation Techniques (continual improvement and refinement to product line); backlog grooming and optimisation of team's Jira intake, story development, operating model and delivery processes.  

•    Value Stream Mapping:  Identifying, coordinating and delivering on VSM for a top candidate in the product offering that will be a model for future behaviours within and across other teams. Familiarity and utilisation of agile (e.g. Scrum or Kanban) practices and continuous improvement (Kaizen) principles.

•    People: Collaborate with the developers and product designer, involving them early enough and providing them direct access customers, leverage the team's skills and mind. Promote an open, collaborative culture that promotes phycological safety. A leader of empowered teams.

What we’re looking for 
The product manager is accountable for what the product teams within their product line are building (outcomes), aligned to overall strategy and customer needs. This means that the product manager must contribute to their product team a solid knowledge of the various constraints of the business. The product manager is highly collaborative and leads brainstorming collaboration sessions, structures strategic conversations, drives team strategy with some guidance, is the go-to expert for features and products.  The product Manager is involved in evolving product vision, principles and strategies and maintains alignment with business objectives and as such will have:

Skills that will help you in your role 
•    Experience of working as an engineer in a software, data or infrastructure engineering team in a Product Operating Model Led Organisation
•    Proven experience as a Product Manager serving critical technology-driven products.
•    Mastery in Agile methodologies within a Product Development Lifecycle
•    Expert in Product Discovery and delivery methods.

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:

•    Certified Scrum Product Owner 
•    Experience working in a finance, banking or a fintech company
•    Demonstratable ability to understand multiple functional areas of business units and functions - engineering, design, and finance.
•    Ability to figure out solutions to hard problems with many constraints, using sound judgement to assess risks, and to lay out your argument in a well-structured, data-informed, written narrative.
•    Proven track record over multiple years as an individual contributor product manager responsible for value and viability of solutions.
•    Exemplar at product management practices including deep knowledge of the customer, the underlying data, business and the stakeholders.
•    Ability to influence without direct reporting lines or organisations.
•    Demonstratable Mastery of Product Management
•    Certified Scrum Product Owner 
•    Experience in End User technologies including 3rd party - Workspace and Collaboration Tools
