Job Description

This role is known internally as “Housing First Support Worker.”

Everything we do aims to positively impact the lives of our social housing tenants and deliver on what matters to them and their communities. We provide safe, well-maintained, sustainable homes and deliver customer-focused services. ForHousing is a place where everyone can thrive and be themselves.

As part of our Housing First team within our Housing Management Contract (ForFutures), you’ll help people who have been living on the streets across the Chester and Cheshire West borough to access and maintain independent tenancy.

Why ForHousing?

  • STAR – through our partnership with STAR you can save money on everyday spending and make your money go further with discounts across a wide range of shops and products
  • Smartech – purchase technology or white goods and spread the cost
  • Wellbeing centre – gym discounts, exercise videos, mindfulness tools, nutrition advice, financial advice and more
  • Cycle to work scheme – save up to 40% on bikes and equipment
  • Employee Assistance Programme – access to a 24/7 counselling and support helpline

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing a caseload of customers who are identified for Housing First as the solution to their homelessness.
  • Working one-to-one with the customer, developing your relationship and being their sole point of contact as they access and maintain their own home.
  • Building relationships with landlords and ensuring all aspects of tenancies are supported to be maintained.
  • Helping with personal budgets.
  • Using risk assessments to understand and manage risks, and using understandings to create change plans with the customer.
  • Contributing to gathering, maintaining, analysing, and presenting relevant statistical data.

What we’re looking for:

You don’t need specific previous experience to be great in this role, what’s more important is having the right attitude. The kind of skills we look for are:

  • Self-confidence and excellent communications skills.
  • Empathy and resilience – sometimes you’ll deal with challenging situations.
  • The ability to travel across the borough for work purposes.

ForHousing is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community. We especially welcome applicants from the Armed Forces community.
