Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant 

We, North East Business & Innovation Centre, will endeavour to uphold the key principles of the Armed Forces Covenant: 

• Members of the Armed Forces Community should not face disadvantages arising from their service in the provision of public and commercial services;
• In some circumstances special provision may be justified, especially for those who have given the most, such as the injured or bereaved.

We recognise the contribution that Service personnel, reservists, veterans, the cadet movement and military families make to our organisation, our community and to the country. We will seek to uphold the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant by: 

• Promoting the Armed Forces;
• Employment support to members of the Armed Forces Community.

We will publicise these commitments through our literature and our website, setting out how we will seek to honour them and inviting feedback from the Armed Forces Community and our customers on how we are doing.

About us

Providing free expert support and flexible workspaces for businesses of all shapes and sizes, the North East BIC has helped more than 4,000 people set up in business since 1994. Today, the BIC supports businesses from concept to start up, to scale-up, and its tailored workspaces are currently home to 326 businesses in Sunderland, Darlington and Washington. A multi-purpose business park, the BIC provides a wide range of accommodation from shared co-working spaces to small incubator units, executive offices, bio-science labs and large industrial facilities across 4 sites, but it’s the access to a wide range of tailored business support that truly sets it apart. 

Established 28 years ago as a not-for-profit enterprise agency, social purpose has always been at the heart of what we do and over the years we have quietly improved our environment and reinvested funds into facilities and services that not only support our customers but make a positive impact on the world.
