Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant
The North Norfolk Railway is East Anglia’s leading heritage steam railway and a forces-friendly employer. We hold the Armed Forces Covenant Bronze Award, are working towards the Silver Award and are affiliated to the Royal British Legion Norfolk. A number of our volunteers and staff are actually retired servicemen.
We would like to meet any family members of currently serving military personnel to access volunteer opportunities, training and possible employment. We appreciate that you have special sets of talents that equip you for volunteering opportunities and we can be a stepping stone to training and employment in other trades.
About us:
The North Norfolk Railway is a not-for-profit organisation that offers a 10 1/2 mile round trip by steam or vintage diesel train from Sheringham through Weybourne and onto Holt. The Railway is a piece of living history that has historic stations and a museum.
The majority of the staff who run the railway are volunteers who come from all walks of life and across all age ranges and skills .
We offer a very wide range of volunteer roles including serving in shop or buffet; silver service on dining trains; gardening; station staff; ticket clerk; train crew; engineering; carriage and wagon maintenance; building maintenance; signalling and guards. Support and training is given. If you have a distance to travel we might be able to help with car shares as our volunteers come from near and far.
We are known as a friendly railway. Come and join our friendly community and have fun whilst helping to run the Railway.
