Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

On 2 May 2014 North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) pledged support for its local armed forces community through the signing of the Covenant. Three years later NWLDC was awarded the Bronze award from the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) and in 2020 the Silver award.

The signed pledge, the full community covenant and our bronze award certificate are available to view on our website. As part of this commitment, we have pledged to:

*Nominate an Armed Forces Champion
*Nominate an Armed Forces Support Officer 
*Provide housing support to members of the armed forces
*Provide access to council leisure services
*Provide information on health services
*Fly a Flag for Armed Forces Day.

About us

North West Leicestershire District Council is a district council serving the people, communities and businesses of North West Leicestershire. The council serves approximately 100 000 inhabitants with 36 elected councillors and with approximately 450 full-time and part-time staff. The council is one of seven district (or borough) councils in Leicestershire which operate within a two tier system where responsibilities are divided between the district or borough council and Leicestershire County Council. The council administers a full range of district council duties and works in partnership with Leicestershire County Council and many other agencies, such as the NHS, the Police and the Fire Service.
