Northumberland County Council

Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

Northumberland County Council signed the Armed Forces Covenant in 2012 and revalidated it in 2020. We received the Employer recognition Gold Award in 2018 and this will be revalidated this year.

Our policies reflect the principles of the Covenant and a Needs Assessment Action Plan and a Covenant Action Plan ensure the whole Armed Forces Family are recognised and supported especially recognising the new duties relating to Health, Education and Housing.

We have an outreach service with two workers who tour the county promoting the covenant and providing support to AF community. Our Armed Forces Forum has representatives from the AF Families Associations and meets bi-monthly as does our North-East Forum.

Our Northumberland Communities Together service continues to work closely with our Case Workers to ensure that any support has been appropriately triaged, assessed and that individuals needs addressed holistically. Our collaborative and multi disciplinary approach ensures the right services and support can be seamlessly wrapped around the individual and their families.
