We recognise the value that serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families bring to our business and to our country. In particular for families and partners of service personnel we will:

• promoting the fact that we are Armed Forces friendly to our employees, customers, suppliers, contractors and wider public;
• considering ways in which remote-working solutions might benefit the mobile Armed Forces Community, especially partners and spouses;
• supporting the employment of Service spouses and partners; 
• partnering with the Forces Families Jobs Forum;
• supporting Armed Forces Day, Reserves Day, the Poppy Appeal Day and Remembrance activities. 

About us

SMI designs and manufactures ‘fit and forget’ cable systems that form the central nervous system of platforms operating in hostile environments, including naval ships, submarines, aircraft, offshore power generation and transport.   In addition to installations in aerospace, energy and transport infrastructure, we are the preferred supplier for through-hull penetrators and connectors to the British Royal Navy’s nuclear submarine and surface fleets. ISO 9001:2015 approved, SMI is the only company to continuously hold a Ministry of Defence Capability Approval Certificate for 27 years.
