Services for Independent Living

Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

Services for Independent Living (SIL) has pledged to support the employment of Service spouses and partners; to support the employment of veterans young and old; to offer flexibility in granting leave before during and after a spouse/partner is deployed; and supporting employees who choose to be members of the Reserve Forces.  SIL is proud to make this commitment to be part of the Armed Forces Covenant, and welcomes enquiries about any of our jobs from veterans or service families.

We promise to interview all veterans and service family members who meet the essential requirements of any role.

About us

SIL is led by the people that need us; around half of our Trustees are service users or family carers. We are an award winning not for profit charity which is committed to helping older and disabled people to live as independently as possible. Helping them live confidently within their own homes and making their own choices over how they want to live their lives.

Our services include:

  • Bespoke care and support to individuals who need help to live at home from 30-minute companionship and welfare visits, to 24 hour, 7 days a week, care at home, we offer an adaptable service;
  • Employer’s support, including payroll and bookkeeping, for those who employ their own carers;
  • Training - SIL courses cover care related subjects as well as a wide range of training that is valuable in every workplace such as Health & Safety and Emergency First Aid at Work.

We are the first business in Herefordshire to priortise Mental Health, training all of our colleagues as Mental Health First Aiders.
