South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust

Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust recognises the value serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families bring to our community and Trust. We will seek to uphold the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant, by:

  • promoting that we are an armed forces-friendly organisation;
  • seeking to support the employment of veterans;
  • striving to support the employment of service spouses and families;
  • seeking to support our employees who choose to be members of the Reserve forces, including accommodating their training and deployment where possible;
  • offering support to our local cadet units.

We are committed to the Armed Forces Covenant, the promise by the nation that those who serve or who have served in the UK armed forces, and their families, will be treated fairly.

About us

South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust (STSFT) was formed on the 1 April 2019 following the merger of City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust and South Tyneside NHD Foundation Trust.

We provide acute and community healthcare services to a core population of over 430,000 people living in and around the borough of South Tyneside and the City of Sunderland, as well as thousands of people from Durham who regularly use our services.

We are very proud to employ over 8,000 highly committed staff who excel every day in delivering outstanding, compassionate care to people within our hospitals, in their own homes and from our multiple community venues and outreach services.
