South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue

Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue (SYFR) has signed the Armed Forces Covenant, which is our organisation’s promise to provide active support to the Armed Forces Community.  In doing so, we commit to honour the Armed Forces Covenant and support the Armed Forces Community.

We recognise the commitment that our Armed Forces community makes, whether serving personnel, Regular and Reservists, Veterans or military families; the contribution they make to our community and our country, and aim to understand the issues that veterans, reservist and family members face.

Both as an employer and provider of services, we will work to ensure that our Armed Forces Community are treated with fairness and respect within both the local community and wider society, and help remove any disadvantages they may encounter in their day-to-day lives.

About us

The statutory fire and rescue service for South Yorkshire. The service covers the areas of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield. Our mission is ‘Making South Yorkshire Safer and Stronger’ and our work to achieve this extends to far more than fighting fires.

Our firefighters are supported by teams of support staff who are skilled to provide a wide range of specialist services. This includes our community safety work and our responsibilities to enforce business fire safety laws. We also work with a network of volunteers to further extend the reach of our prevention work.
