Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

We are proud to pledge our commitment to supporting those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces as well as their families. As part of our pledge we will:

  • Extend our career opportunities to the families of servers, veterans, service leavers and reservists through work with partner organisations and dedicated career events
  • Provide on-going training to our Hiring Managers and the wider business to ensure an understanding of transferable skills and qualifications
  • Offer flexibility for spouses/partners of mobilised reservists and regulars to take leave at short notice where partners are sent on deployment
  • Support reservists by offering additional leave to carry out their duties
  • Consider remote/flexible working where possible to benefit the mobile Armed Forces Community, in particular partners and spouses.
  • Provide a supportive environment and a welcome into our Armed Forces People Network where members of this community meet each month
  • Open the door to additional volunteering opportunities to open up alternative career pathways.

About us

St John Ambulance is a volunteer powered, charitable organisation dedicated to the teaching of first aid. We support the NHS, provide medical support at public events and administer engaging youth programmes throughout England. We are a modern and dynamic charity, but with a long and diverse heritage. We have been providing first aid and first aid training for over 140 years and our story goes all the way back to 11th century Jerusalem where the first Knights of St John set up a hospital to provide free medical care to sick pilgrims. Since then we have evolved as an Order and as an organisation and today we have over 20,000 volunteers and 1200 employees delivering our vital work.

We believe every team member is integral to our success, whether in ambulance operations, marketing, IT, training or HR. We all play our part in being the difference between a life saved and a life lost.
