Surrey and Sussex Healthcare Organisation

Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

At SASH, we have signed the Armed Forces Covenant (AFC). We recognise the valuable contribution that the Armed Forces community makes and the impact on their ability to access healthcare. We also recognise the impact on employment and are supportive employers of reservists and Armed Forces family members to increase and sustain employment and health for all those in our Armed Forces.

We are currently bronze accredited under the Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance (VCHA). This is a group of NHS ‘Veteran Aware’ provider organisations in England committed to providing the best standards of care for the Armed Forces community based on the principles in the Armed Forces Covenant. We are in the process of achieving the Silver accreditation.

We, Surrey and Sussex NHS Healthcare, will endeavour to uphold the key principles of the Armed Forces Covenant. Members of the Armed Forces Community should not face disadvantage arising from their service in the provision of public and commercial services.

About us

Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is one of the region's busiest providers of healthcare.

We run East Surrey Hospital in Redhill, where we have more than 700 beds and provide acute and complex services. In addition, we provide a range of outpatient, diagnostic and less complex planned services at The Earlswood Centre, Caterham Dene Hospital, Crawley Hospital and Horsham Hospital.

Every year, over 100,000 people attend our emergency department, we deliver nearly 5,000 babies and over 400,000 people have outpatient appointments with us.

We are a major local employer, with a diverse workforce of around 5,000 staff providing healthcare services to a growing population of some 744,000 people.
