Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant
The IoD is an inclusive employee and as such look for ways to employ all from society. We support the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant by working with partners to ensure we provide opportunities for those who have served in the Armed Forces to transition into the world of business. We support spouses & partners, engage in National events, promote the AF, as well as Cadet organisations and provide support to AF charities.
As an exemplar to business, the IoD will use its influence to encourage other businesses to do the same.
By using sites such as Forces Families Jobs, we are actively seeking to employ military partners and spouses, as well as other members of the Armed Forces Community.
The IoD pledges to demonstrate and advocate support to Defence and the Armed Forces Community. This includes the Reserves, Service leavers, Armed Forces veterans, the wounded, injured and sick, Cadets, military spouses or partners and their families by upholding the Employer Recognition Scheme.
Our building is steeped in military history being the old home of the United Service Club.
About us:
The Institute of Directors is a non-party political organisation with approximately 20,000 members. Membership includes directors from right across the business spectrum. Our objective is to ensure your views are taken into account when the government is reviewing policy, legislation or seeking the opinions of the wider business community.
The IoD’s Royal Charter instructs it to "represent the interests of members and the business community to government and in the public arena, and to encourage and foster a climate favourable to entrepreneurial activity and wealth creation."
The Charter also tasks the Institute with promoting "for the public benefit high levels of skill, knowledge, professional competence and integrity on the part of directors", which it seeks to achieve through its training courses and publications on corporate governance.
