The Royal Engineers Central Charitable Trust

Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

As a military charity we are passionate about our Armed Forces and supporting the Armed Forces community. We are committed to being a Forces friendly employer and already employ reservists, veterans, military spouses & partners. As well as this we provide assistance to Regular, Reservist and Veterans of the Royal Engineers through an employment support service and network. This is aimed at those who seek employment and support beyond that available from the MOD and other career transition support organisations.

We commit to 50% of our income being solely disbursed for those in need and benevolence cases from serving and former members of the Royal Engineers and their families. The RECCT provides annual grants to the Royal Engineers Museum which is open to the general public (free entry to serving and former members of the Royal Engineers) and provides an educational outreach programme. We also make the commitment to award grants to maintain war memorials worldwide and financial support to those participating in adventurous training and sporting activities.

About us

The Royal Engineers Central Charitable Trust (RECCT) was established by a Trust Deed dated 14 March 1991 by combining the ‘Royal Engineers Officers’ Charitable Fund’ and the ‘Royal Engineers General Charitable Purposes Fund’.

The Objectives of the charity include: promoting the efficiency of the Armed Forces and in particular the Corps of Royal Engineers; to promote an esprit de corps in the Royal Engineers; and to relieve either generally or individually necessitous persons being members or former members of the Royal Engineers or the dependants of such persons.

Every year the RECCT disburses approx. £1 million to provide benevolence grants (including weekly allowances), funding in support of sport and adventurous training expeditions, support to soldiers and their families whilst they are deployed on operations and publishes Sapper Magazine (six editions per annum) to keep current and former Sappers in touch with Corps current events.

The majority of the staff employed in our headquarters are serving soldiers, reservists, veterans, or spouses/partners of service personnel.
