Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant
On 1st November 2023, we reaffirmed and signed The Armed Forces Covenant. The Covenant serves a powerful public declaration of our unwavering commitment to providing the very best education for the remarkable children of Army families within our community. At The Wellington Academy we recognise and appreciate the unique challenges that our service children face and we stand firm in our mission to support these incredible students ensuring they receive the exceptional education they deserve. The signing of the Armed Forces Covenant is not only a commitment but also a celebration of the incredible diversity and experience that these service children bring with them to our school. We believe embracing and cherishing these diverse backgrounds as they enrich our learning environment and create a stronger more interconnected community.
We are proud to have received the Bronze Award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.
About us
Our vision for pupils of the Wellington Academy is to produce young adults who are inquisitive, ambitious, and independent. Armed with these personality traits they will then be positioned perfectly to become effective and contributing members of the local, national and global community.
We are part of The Ascend Learning Trust which is based around Excellence in Education and our guiding principle is to drive towards this both academically and personally for each and every learner.
We celebrate effort and achievement equally but realise students will need to try, try and try again to master all aspects of their learning along the way. We value effort (as without this success will not follow), expect failure as a result of efforts and that to overcome failures, personal resilience will need to be developed.
