Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant
In 2016, we unveiled a radical new social care team focused on three main components: the right people, in the right channels, at the right times to support mum around the clock. When tasked with building an experience for parents like this, Things Unlimited realised that we would have to resource this in a completely different way from any normal piece of business. Not only did we need a team who were prepared to work more unusual hours but we also needed to find candidates who could empathise with the sleepless nights, weaning problems and parenting wins that our consumer audiences were referencing in their contacts to us. We focused on the military dependants network – a network of people, primarily women, whose peripatetic lifestyles mean that they find it difficult to find suitable employment – giving us a wonderful opportunity to support mothers back into the workforce after a break, yet employ people with the right skill set, drive and attention to detail. We put into place the operational structures and processes that meant that they could work remotely from any corner of the world, allowing them the flexibility to maintain the role wherever their posting and providing a unique opportunity for some of these women to rebuild careers in marketing and communications. We have a UK team and also a team working from Brunei, where employment within the local economy is not an option. By offering a flexible working structure, we are creating jobs for military families who are unable to join a traditional workplace environment due to family obligations and whose expertise and experience is a huge asset to our business. We currently have 10 military dependants on our social media team and are looking to further build on this.

Things Unlimited is an agile, social-first marketing agency based in Soho, London. Part of the Unlimited Group, it is owned by and is a trading division of TMW Unlimited. TMW Unlimited is a medium sized agency of about 180 staff; Things Unlimited has a staff of around 30 people of whom 12 are flexible workers. We believe that there is no such thing as a standard solution and our ethos is around breaking the mould of traditional agency structures and focussing on the right profile of candidates to deliver the work.
